2025 Climate Action Strategy: Draft Modeling Inputs & Assumptions Available for Stakeholder Review
E3, the State’s partner for preparing the 2025 Climate Action Strategy, is using the PATHWAYS model to help Rhode Island plan for and achieve economy-wide decarbonization. PATHWAYS evaluates long-term decarbonization scenarios and performs cost analysis to support greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation planning. One of the first steps RI needs to take as it works to identify specific policies and programs to reach the goals outlined in the Act on Climate involves establishing draft GHG model inputs and assumptions. Please note that RI’s 2022 GHG Inventory was used to help develop some of the inputs/assumptions.
You’ve probably heard many times that GHG scenario modeling results are only as good as the data and assumptions that go into the model… we completely agree and that’s why E3 is seeking public feedback on the draft inputs and assumptions they have developed specifically for Rhode Island. For example, E3’s draft inputs capture the number of light duty vehicles on the road in Rhode Island at the end of 2022. Do you believe the inputs and assumptions are representative of Rhode Island? Please share your feedback below.
So, if you are interested in rolling up your sleeves and reviewing some draft data (and asking questions), then now is the time. Between now and March 10th, E3 is interested in hearing your feedback and questions on the draft inputs and assumptions it has developed to support the 2025 Climate Action Strategy.
The deadline to provide input is Monday, March 10th.
